Searching Syntax and Operations

Paraphrased from swish-e syntax

The search index was generated from the mets/mods metadata for the CD-ROMs in the svp collection. Indexed sections are "title", "abstract", "subject", and "classification". By default only "title" is searched.

The simplest search is a single word, e.g.

fish

or lists of words (which are logically AND'ed)

fish catfish

Simple boolean combinations are possible

fish NOT catfish

Search words can be drawn from specific properties

title=fish AND abstract=manual

It's also possible to search for specific SUDOC numbers

classification="I 49.6/2: F 52/9/PACK. CD"

or sets of numbers

classification="I 49"

Searching for phrases also works:

abstract="habitat preference"

Wildcards also work

title=entitle*
