Southern Assateague Island
Cultural Features
Assateague Island surveys image

This section of Southern Assateague Island shows urban features (i.e., roadway, parking lot, seawall) which can be seen in the southern section and running across the entire length of each of the individual elevation surveys. However, since these features do not change vertically from year to year, these features have an elevation difference of 0 meters as seen above. These stable urban features provide an accurate reference point for which to assess the accuracy of the ATM instrument. In addition, vegetation is predominant landward throughout the entire aerial photograph (seen as red in color).

In reviewing the elevation difference survey, there appears to be minor erosion along the shoreward edge with some minor accretion landward along the entire section of Southern Assateague Island.
