TROPICAL DEPRESSION LILY, 22 April-1 May April 22: A closed circulation was found within the ITCZ near point 7.3 degrees South and 65.5 degrees East, after a cold front passed to the south of the Mascareignes, followed by a moderate anticyclone. Lily was born. April 23-25: Lily moved steadily between the west and the west- south-west at a speed of 5-7 knots. It passed north of Agalega (about 220 km) during the morning of the 25th. April 26-27: A strong anticyclone moved toward the east, just south of the Mozambique Channel. Lily reached the meridian of Diego-Garcia on the 27th, continuing in the same direction at about the same speed. April 28-29: To the south of the Mozambique Channel the pressure field was particularly low. On the 29th, Lily began to break-apart north of the Comores. However, on the 30th, winds near the Comores indicated the existance of a residual minimum south of the Grande Comores.
