TROPICAL STORM DENISE, 2-11 January This cyclone was part of a special edition published by the Meteorology Service of the Reunion during the month of March 1966. Therefore, detailed study of this cyclone is not repeated in this edition. Denise formed on January 2nd, just south-east of Diego-Garcia. It moved south-west until the 9th in order to curve south, then south-east on the 10th. Denise crossed the Reunion during the night of January 8-9th and caused numerous damages due to flooding. The heaviest rainfall recorded over 24 hours occured at the following: Foc Foc: 1825.0 mm Piton Tortue (Plaine des Cafres): 1474.0 mm. Plaine des Cafres 27th km: 1250.0 mm. The maximum rainfall recorded on January 7-8th: Bras Sec (Cilaos): 2230.0 mm Foc Foc: 1975.0 mm Cilaos: 1818.0 mm Piton Tortue: 1545.0 mm Ilet a Cordes: 1571.5 mm Aurere: 1404.0 mm Hell Bourg: 1325.0 mm.
