Brief Annotation:
Uses live specimens, models, paintings, and drawings to examine the diversity and evolution of life. Describes several methods of grouping organisms, then concentrates on the "five kingdom" system of classification: monerans, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. Shows representative specimens of each kingdom and some of their characteristics and habits, such as reproductive structures, types of reproduction, and methods of obtaining food. Includes mention of evolutionary advances such as the development of three levels of tissue, development of the coelom, and specialization of systems in organisms. Honorable mention, 52nd Annual Exhibition 1982, Biological Photographic Association.
