Coastal remote sensing : new technologies for coastal mapping / NOAA Coastal Services Center.
Adapting technology developed by NASA to benefit coastal zone managers. 1) Aircraft laser beach mapping and 2) Satellite hurricane observations, are 2 primary applications which provide data regarding high resolution coastal topography, hurricane impacts, ocean turbidity, and surface temperature. (Significantly changing demographics and socio-economic conditions have caused the 30 coastal states to contain 85% of our population, and over 50% of the population live within 50 miles of a coast.)
