Northern Assateague Island
Accretional Features
Assateague Island surveys image

This section of Northern Assateague Island shows the undeveloped beach with nearby urban features (above in aerial photograph). The undeveloped beach consists of sandy stretches with sporadic vegetation in the center section and the northern section of the aerial photograph (seen as red in color). In reviewing the elevation difference survey, there appears to be accretion along the shoreward edge extending about half the beach width landward with the far northern section being the highest accretion area.
