This image was derived from the visible, near and thermal IR bands from the AVHRR aboard the NOAA-11 satellite. It was created by draping an RGB image over a digital elevation model (DEM) generated from cloud top temperatures. The DEM was derived from an inverted channel 4 band (thermal IR) while the RGB image was created using channel 4, channel 2 (near IR) , and channel 1 (visible). The perspective view represents an elevation of 88° from horizontal. The software used to create this image were AVHRRMAP7 and the ENVI image processing system (ver 2.6) The date of this scene is September 21, 1989 at 18:44 UTC.
