After reading the readme (pumsqt.doc), I launched the programs (w/o install) as it mentioned. The qt.exe file opens, but requests a user ID.

User should open the read.bat and type 'readme'in the blank. This will give user an idea of what to open and view. The DOS version of imps tools are broken. Download and install imps 4.1 from the census site: http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/imps/download.htm These work fine -- the data dictionary in /tools/quicktab can be imported and the tabulation tools can read the text data files.
