GOSOFTWA.ASC ------------ USING GO SOFTWARE ON U.S. EXPORTS AND U.S. IMPORTS The CD-ROM contains ``GO'' software which makes it possible to access the data. GO software provides a series of screen displays. Also, the command bar at the bottom of the screen displays options. Use the key to move from one screen to the next screen. How to Use 1. To access the CD-ROM drive, assuming the drive is L, type L: C:\>L: 2. To use the GO software, at the L prompt type: L:\>GO The screen will display the 2-digit commodity classification codes, along with the merchandise names. See Figure 1. 2-digit Commodity Classifications. 3. To locate the desired commodity selection, Press Up and down arrows, and/or PgUp/PgDn keys 4. To display the 4-digit commodity codes, Press on a 2-digit commodity code. The 4-digit commodity classification codes will be displayed, along with the merchandise name. See Figure 2. 4-digit Commodity Classifications. 5. To display the 6-digit commodity classification codes, Press on a 4-digit commodity code. See Figure 3. 6-digit Commodity Classifications. NOTE: To review the process at any time or return to a previous screen, Press . one or more times. 6. To select the 10-digit code, Press on a 6-digit commodity classification. See Figure 4. 10-digit Commodity Classification Code. Data show domestic and foreign exports data and the quantity and value for the commodity code for a particular month. To view data for year to date, Press Some codes may not be available for all years. NOTE: You may need to consult the publication Schedule B, Statistical Classification of Domestic and Foreign Commodities Exported from the United States. See page 1-5. Schedule B shows changes that have occurred between years. 7. To obtain information on the country of destination, Press The country names appear in the center of the screen. See Figure 5. To select country, Press Screen will display either the data for the country selected or the Custom District Selection if there are custom districts. See Figure 6. To obtain selected commodity export data on the country of destination and customs district of exportation, position the cursor on the desired district, Press Screen will display data. See Figure 7. To select a print feature, position cursor and Press For a paper copy, Press To name the file and copy to the file, Press In dialog box, type file name for C:\directory or type selected directory and then the file name. To display report menu Press See Figure 9. Report Menu. For exports, report EM545, Domestic Exports, is available. For imports, the report feature allows you to select either the Report EM145, General Imports or Report EM146, Imports for Consumption. After the report selection is made by positioning the cursor and Press The next menu offers selections for Current Month, Year to Date, or Both above. After selecting the time period, the screen then prompts you to select a file or printer to capture the report selected. 2. Copying. Several copy features are available. See Figure 10. Copying Features. A file may be copied to ASCII(Flat/SDF), ASCII(Delimited), WK1 (Spreadsheet), or dBase format. To select a copy feature, position cursor and Press With all formats selected, a file will need to be named for capturing the data. Ending the Session 1.
