Indiana University

Created by the Indiana General Assembly in 1820, the Board of Trustees is Indiana University's governing board, legal owner, and final authority. The current nine-member board meets six times a year on various IU campuses around the state. The minutes from the Board of Trustees meetings include official acts, resolutions, policies, agreements, personnel actions, and other business records pertaining to the governance of Indiana University.

This website is the result of a cooperative project between the Indiana University Libraries Digital Collections Services, the Indiana University Archives, and the Board of Trustees Office to make historical and current meeting minutes available online, allowing full-text search and browsing.

Meeting minutes since 2021 are available in the Archives of Institutional Memory.

Administrative action reports (AARs) were first included with the minutes in November 1987. Many of the minutes on this site include AARs, but some do not. Please contact the University Archives if you wish to request a copy of an AAR.

The University Archives houses the official paper copies of the minutes from 1835 to 2020, except for the minutes from January 1859-June 1883, which were destroyed in the Seminary Square fire on July 12, 1883. In 2020, impacts of the pandemic shutdown caused us to shift to digital records only.
