SLOAN, JAMES FORMAN: 1874-1933.

James Forman Sloan , who used the name Tod Sloan, was born near Kokomo, Ind., on Aug. 10, 1874. He married Julia Sanderson in 1907. He married his second wife, Elizabeth Malone, in 1920 and they had one daughter. Sloan became a professional jockey and spent most of his career in England. He is noted for originating the low-profile tiding position and other horse-racing techniques. He died in Los Angeles on Dec. 21, 1933.
