ROBBINS, ROY MARVIN: 1904-

Roy Marvin Robbins was born in Richmond, Ind., on July 26, 1904. He received an A.B. degree from Earlham College in 1925 and two degrees from the University of Wisconsin, an A.M. in 1926 and a Ph.D. in 1929. He married Joyce Gowen and they had two children, Marvin and Philip. Robbins taught at the University of Washington, 1928-29, and Western Reserve University, 1929-38. He joined the faculty of Butler University in 1938 where he was professor of history, 1939-53; director of the division of graduate instruction, 1939-46; and head of the history department, 1939-53. He became professor of history at the University of Nebraska in 1953.
