NICHOLS, FAY FOLSOM (MRS. FRANK E.) : 1887-1947.

Fay Folsom was born in Hebron, Ind., on Oct. 14, 1887, the daughter of Marvin and Lorraine Tannehill Folsom. She attended Valparaiso University. She taught school for a few years prior to her marriage to Frank E. Nichols on June 23, 1910. They had two children, Audrey and Murl. For ten years Mrs. Nichols served as news editor for the PORTER COUNTY HERALD (Hebron) but resigned that position to complete her book on the Kankakee. She traveled extensively up and down the river, interviewing old-timers and delving into sundry records in river towns. She was president of the Hebron Public Library Board and county president of federated clubs. She served two terms as state chairman of literature in women's clubs. Mrs. Nichols died on Aug. 12, 1947, and her book was published posthumously.
