John Randolph McBride
was born in Morgan
County, Ind.,
in 1842. He enlisted in the 33rd Indiana Volunteer
Infantry on Sept. 16, 1861, with the rank of
quartermaster sergeant. He served throughout the war, being promoted to adjutant on
Oct. 1, 1864, and mustered out on July 21, 1865.
