HOWLAND, LOUIS: 1857-1934.
Born in
Indianapolis
on June 13, 1857,
Louis Howland
was educated in a private school in his native city and at Yale
University, from which he graduated in 1879.
He spent some time in the East, where he was on the staff of FORUM magazine, but
returned to
Indianapolis
in 1892 and was associated with the
INDIANAPOLIS NEWS for the remainder of his life. He was editor of the paper from
1911 to 1934. Mr.
Howland was one of the organizers of the Indianapolis Literary
Club. His death occurred in
Indianapolis
on Mar. 26, 1934.
