COOKE, MARJORIE BENTON: 1876-1920.
Marjorie Benton Cooke
, dramatic reader and monologist, was born in Richmond, Ind., in 1876, the daughter of
Joseph Henry and Jessie Benton Cooke.
After her graduation from the University of Chicago in 1899, she began writing for magazines, then, in 1902, she became a monologist, touring the U. S. and reciting original
sketches and monologues. She spent her leisure time writing stories, plays, and
poetry. Miss Cooke died on Apr. 26,
1920.
