BRITTS, MATTIE DYER (MRS. JAMES H.): 1842-?
Mattie Dyer
, daughter of the Rev. Sidney M. Dyer, was born on
Nov. 23, 1842, in
New York
City and was educated at the Baptist Seminary in Indianapolis. For a
time she taught school in Ladoga,
Ind., but she spent most
of her married life in Crawfordsville, Ind. She married James H. Britts in 1860. Mrs. Britts was an author of
juvenile books and of poetry and was a writer for periodicals and newspapers.
