BOONE, RICHARD GAUSE: 1849-1923.
Born at Spiceland, Ind., on Sept. 9, 1849,
Richard Gause Boone
, son of Driver and Elizabeth Cooper
Boone, was graduated from the Spiceland Academy in 1871 and later received degrees from De Pauw
University and from Ohio University. During his career
as an educator he was superintendent of schools at Frankfort, Ind., professor at Indiana University,
president of Michigan Normal College, superintendent of schools
at Cincinnati; and a lecturer on education at the University of California. He
married Mary E. Stanley in 1874. He
died in 1923.
