BOBBITT, JOHN FRANKLIN: 1876-
Born in southern Indiana on Feb. 16, 1876, John Franklin Bobbitt graduated from Indiana University in 1901 and received the Ph.D. degree from Clark University in 1909. He married Mabel Deiwert.
From 1893 to 1902 he was a teacher in rural and village schools, from 1902 to 1909 in the Philippine Normal School at Manila, and after 1909 was associated with the University of Chicago, serving as professor of education from 1918 to 1941. Mr. Bobbitt was a director of numerous school surveys.
