Scope Note: The Political series consists of representative materials from Hamilton's campaigns, comprehensive clippings collections about the Reagan and Bush administrations and the 1992 Presidential campaign, samples from the 1980s of the extensive clippings files on politics kept by staff, representative candidate questionnaires from interest groups, a few Democratic Party campaign materials, and files relating to the various redistricting actions affecting Hamilton's district. The clippings about the 1992 Presidential campaign and the Reagan and Bush Administrations are all apparently Hamilton's, bearing consistently his underlining, asterisks, and occasional notes. There are a few scattered memos and sheets of his notes within the files. Clippings sources are largely the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal, although the Christian Science Monitor, Financial Times, Newsweek, and Time also appear frequently. All newsprint has been photocopied, and reduced when necessary; magazine articles, unless oversize, have not. Oversize magazine articles (e.g. New York Times Magazine) have been photocopied but the originals retained.
