AFTERNOON SESSION.

The question recurring on the adoption of the resolution pending at the time of the meeting of the Joint Convention--

Mr. Kenner said that the people of Ohio, Indian and Illinois have taken the thing in hand and want to construct a water course which will aid navigation on the west and on the east, and that they considered it a necessity to commerce as well as a millitary necessity.

The resolution was then adopted by yeas 80; nays, 1.

On motion of Mr. Cauthorne, the House proceeded to the consideration of matter on the Speaker's table.

House bills numbered from 62 to 120 inclusive were read by title only and severally referred to the appropriate standing Committees.

Pending this order--

A resolution was adopted, authorizing the appointment by the Speaker of an additional Standing Committee of the House, to be known as a Committee on Public Health, and Vital Statistics.

Mr Hinton offered a resolution directing the Doorkeeper to place on the desk of each member on copy each of the Indianapolis Daily Journal Sentinel, Telegraph and News, and the weekly Review, Herald, Republican, Sun, Western Citizen and Leader, the weeklies to be in wrappers.

Mr Meredith opposed the resolutions and moved to lay it on the table.

The motion was agree to by yeas, 73; nays 6.

And then the house adjourned.
