DECEDENTS' ESTATES.
Mr. Hefron's bill [S. 36-see page 85] to amend Section 26, to provide for the settlement of decedents estates, etc., being read the third time.
Mr. BERRYMAN hoped the bill would not pass for the reason that in many cases it would cause a great deal of expense in small estates where it is not necessary. Sometimes sales are made where the amount is only $200 or $300. He believed in as little legislation as possible.
Mr. MILES was opposed to the principle of the bill.
Mr. FANCHER--This bill ought to pass. The time should be fixed and notice given so that the heirs may know the time of such action and come in and hear the petition and oppose it, if they want to.
Mr. TETER also favored the passage of the bill.
The bill passed--yeas, 77; nays, 5.
