INSANE ASYLUM INVESTIGATION.
Mr. BERRYMAN offered a resolution that a Committee of five--three from the Senate--be appointed to investigate charges made against the Hospital for the Insane, with power to send for perosns and papers and inquire into the financial expenditures and condition of matters pertaining to the management thereof.
Mr. SUMNER offered the following substitute: That it is the opinion of this House that no further Investigation Committees be appointed by this House without there first having been some definite and specific charges made by responsible persons in writing, and by them signed.
The substitute was laid on the table.
Mr. NEFF moved to am3end by providing that the investigation shall commence with the year 1875.
The amendment was laid on the table--yeas, 54; nays 36. The original resolution was the adopted.
Mr. MILES made a motion that when bills are printed, the Clerk distribute them among the members.
Mr. MEREDITH moved an amendment that the printed bill a be distributed equally among the members.
The Amendment was agreed to, and the motion as amended was also agreed to.
