HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

SATURDAY, March 6, 1869.

The SPEAKER took the the Chair at nine o'clock a. m.

Mr. PALMER moved ineffectually, that when the House adjourns to-day, it shall be till Monday at twelve o'clock m.

On motion of Mr. JOHNSON of Parke, the adjournment was ordered till Monday at half past ten o'clock a. m.

A MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR.

The SPEAKER laid before the House the following communication from the Governor:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT, INDIANAPOLIS, March 4, 1869.

Gentlemen of the House of Representatives:

I beg leave to inform you that thirty-seven members of the House of Representatives this day placed in my hands their respective resignations as members of your body, and have therefore ceased to be members of the present General Assembly. I will communicate to you to-morrow morning the names of the resigning members.

Writs of election are being prepared ordering elections to be held on the 23d day of the present month to fill the vacancies.

The House adjourned till Monday at half past ten o'clock a. m.
