IN SENATE.

SATURDAY, November 25,1865.

The PRESIDENT pro tem, called to order at 9 o'clock A. M.

On motion of Mr. GIFFORD the reading of the journal of yesterday was dispensed with.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE

Were obtained for Messrs. Niles, Bowman, Allison and Williams, till Tuesday morning.

EDWIN MAY.

Mr. CULLEN presented the claim of Edwin May for $5,000, and asked that it be referred to a special committee of three.

Mr. CASON moved to amend by substituting the Committee on Finance.

Mr. WEIGHT insisted that this claim should take the usual course - to a standing committee.

For obvious reasons it was agreed that no vote should be taken, and the matter was informally passed over.
