Ryan having received a majorty of all the votes cast was declared by the Speaker to be duly elected Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives, and thereupon (amid applause from the lobbies) the Principal Clerk elect, came to the forum and received the oath of the Constitution at the hand of the Hon. David Wallace.
