This image appears on page 19 of the February 1959 issue of the Indiana Alumni Magazine. The caption reads, in full: " YOUNG HOOSIER NOVELIST - Winner of a $2,500 first prize in national competition for his first novel, Let Me Be Awake, is Stuart Michner (above), 20-year-old Indiana University junior. Encouraged in his desire to be a writer by his father, an associate professor of English and director of the Writer's Conference, and by his mother, who is promotion and publicity manager for I.U. press, Mitchner began the novel when he was 17. He finished the final draft before he was 20.
