image number:

P0039472

description:

When a troop from California was taken ill in transport to Bloomington, it was found that he had polio. When the Army hospital in Colorado notified IU to this, they placed the unit the troop belonged to into quarantine until the State Board of Health deemed the situation to be under control. As a result of this, the start of the fall semester was delayed one week to protect the rest of the student population.
