President Emeritus Bryan and Dr. Alfred Manes
Dr. Manes (1877 - 1963) was a prominent figure in early 20th Century insurance science. German born, he taught law at Humboldt University of Berlin and he was the general secretary of the German Society of Insurance Sciences from 1902 to 1935. Due to being Jewish, Manes lost his position at the University after the Nazi Party took control of Germany. He left Germany in 1935 to flee the Nazis and to teach in the United States and other countries.
