This image scanned from a page in the Bryan House guestbook.

Seen here, and from the Bryan House guestbook, Frost has added the heading "Turning Homeward" to the final stanza of his poem entitled "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" which was first published in 1923. The final stanza reads, in full:

"The woods are lovely dark and deep.

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep -

And miles to go before I sleep."

NOTE: Robert Frost was a Distinguished American Poet in Residence at IU for about four weeks in late March and early April of 1943. In late January 1943 Professor Russell Noyes requested and Herman B Wells approved for Frost an honorarium of $1000 which was to be paid from IU Special Lecture Fund.
