Crowd at football game
This photograph was probably shot at the IU vs. TCU football game of October 11, 1941. This is based on the fact that negative number 4402 was shot at that game and that this is negative number 4403. The IU vs. TCU football game of 1941 was not only Homecoming, but it was also Dad's Day and High School Day. Thus, it is possible these are I-Men, other alumni or even parents of those IU students playing in the game.

It has been noted that the man in the front row, third from right (wearing dark coat) looks like George Purcell who was graduated from IU in 1909 and was Postmaster in Bloomington. This photograph was compared to a September 23, 1938 ACME photograph that was up for sale on E-Bay and the resemblance is so striking that it would be hard to believe that the man pictured here is not George Purcell. A copy of the E-Bay sale page has been kept in the IU Archives for future reference. See also an image of Purcell on page 25 of the October 1938 edition of the Indiana Alumni Magazine.
