description:

The Union Club (a.k.a. Campus Club) was located where today (2012) the parking lot is directly across Seventh Street (to the north) from Ernie Pyle Hall (School of Journalism). The small driveway in front of the building seen here is still there today (2012). The building was razed in August and September of 1965 to make way for a parking lot.

Page 10 of the September 1947 issue of the Indiana Alumni Magazine said of the new Union Club, in part: "...offering for the first time on the campus transient hotel facilities not possible in the Union Building...Its primary purpose is to provide campus quarters for returning alumni, friends of the University, and the guests of students. It also provides housing for faculty and administrative personnel and accomodations for companies appearing on the Auditorium Series and for groups holding conferences and short courses throughout the year.

Dining room and lounges are open to students at all times just as those of the Union Building."
