Construction begins on 10th St. Memorial Stadium
An image similar to this image and probably shot within minutes of this image appears in an un-cited newspaper clipping (probably Indiana Daily Student) found in the 1922 football manager's book (IU Archives accession 2008/059). The caption reads, in full: "Indiana Tearing Up Golf Course for New Stadium: In these days of intense interest in college athletics a good stadium is more essential than a golf course, so at Indiana they are tearing up a perfectly good links and starting construction on a new athletic plant. The above picture shows contractors excavating on the fairway at the approach to the fourth green. The new stadium, which is to be erected northeast of the gymnasium, will cost $250,000. Indiana will not quit playing golf, but will rearrange the course to made room for the stadium."
