description: | (Written on an index card found with the photo): "This house stood on the site of the present office of the superintendent of Spring Mill State Park. The house was the home of James Campbell Lynn (b. 1810 - d. 1891). He sold 101 acres of land directly across the road to George Donaldson. This land was, and still is, known as the Donaldson Farm Cave Land. The deed is dated 1865. The squares in the picture are flower beds. Billy Lynn, who made this drawing, was a grandson of James C. Lynn. He remembered the flower beds and the unusually trimmed trees in the front yard. James C. Lynn and his wife, Catherine Dixon, their sons and other relatives are buried in the little cemetery across the road in the Park, not far from Shawnee Cottage, the Lynn's former home and later the home of George Donaldson." |
