description:

This image scanned from a Nov. 1, 1901 document from W. N. Showers to IU President Joseph Swain. However, the same image was used on Showers Bros. documents as early as May 8, 1894 (see doc. from Showers to H.S. Bates dated May 8, 1894 currently located in the Showers Bros. reference file). Thus, this image of the company's facilities dates to at least before May 9, 1894.

The view is from the southwest looking toward the northeast. Eighth Street is in the lower right-hand side portion of the image and it intersects with the railroad running along the entire left hand-side of this image. The building is today (2015) the Showers Plaza building. The railroad is today (2015) part parking lot along the west side of Showers Plaza and part of the B-Line Trail in Bloomington.
