description:

A caption associated with this image reads: "LITTLE 500 TO END ERA IN TENTH STREET STADIUM: Jeff [sic] Tardy (left), vice president of the Indiana University Foundation, describes proposed new multi-purpose facility for the Little 500 bicycle race and other sports and music events. The proposed new facility, which is expected to be ready for next year's race, would be on the north edge of the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The Tenth Street Stadium, where the race has been run for the past 29 years, is deteriorating. Repairs to make the stadium safe and usable have been made for this year's race with the help of donated labor and materials. At right is William Armstrong, president of the IU Foundation."

NOTE: The Little 500 stadium was constructed on the location of the former IU football team practice field.
