The sign reads, in full: "DEAM'S OAK | X Quercus Deamii | This oak is a natural cross from the white and | Chinquapin oaks. It was discovered in 1904 by | L.A. and E.B. Williamson of Bluffton. | This Hybrid Oak is the only one of its kind known. | The department will appreciate co-operation of | the public in protecting this tree and the grounds. | The Department of Conservation | State of Indiana. | Richard Lieber.
