Started in the fall of 1941 and sponsored by the Indiana Union, Coffee Hours were instituted as a way for members of Indiana University to get to know each other. Every Wednesday afternoon at four, coffee would be served in the main lounge of the Union and students and faculty could meet and talk in an informal setting.
