An advertisement featuring Margie Stewart

image number:

P0022856

description:

Margery Stewart was born December 14, 1919 in Wabash, Indiana. She attended Indiana University during the 1938-1939 school year. While at IU she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and she was crowned the Bored Walk Freshman Princess of 1938-1939 (the Bored Walk was a student humor magazine). See pages 208 and 275 of the 1939 Arbutus yearbook.

The text running along the right side of the image reads, in full: "Kodachrome Reproduction In Four Color Offset By Western Printing & Lithographing Co., Racine Wis. * Poughkeepsie, N.Y. * Photograph by Farr-Landers * Los Angeles, Calif."

Margie Stewart's quote reads, in full: "I'm all buttoned up if we don't get your business!"

The item seen here is a bifolium advertisement that appears to have been mailed to prospective clients of Western Printing. Had they been numbered, the image seen here would be pages 2 and 3. Page 1 reads, in full: "Margie | the Model". Page 4 consists of "An Open Letter from Margie" addressed to "Dear Friend" regarding the additional business Western Printing has received "...since the development of their practical and economical method of Kodachrome reproduction." and goes on to solicit new business "I think Kodachrome can help 'button up' additional business for you."
