The album itself is dated January 1, 1876. The caption reads, in full: "South Side Of Chapel"

The album is said to have been prepared by Theophilus and Samuel "Brown" Wylie and possibly J. B. Allison of Bloomington, Indiana. It was exhibited at the 1876 Exposition in Philadelphia.
