description:

This image scanned from "Showers Brothers Company: Bed Room, Dining Room and Kitchen Furniture" Catalog, January 1926, page 2.

The view is from the northeast looking toward the southwest with Morton Street running from lower right (just below the "Showers Bros." sign) toward the middle of the left side of the image. 10th Street intersects as noted in the next paragraph.

The building to the left of the sign that reads: "Showers Bros. Co. Bloomington, Indiana" is the building that became the offices of the I.U. Press which is (2015) still located on the northwest corner of 10th and Morton streets. The building to the left of that building is the Sample Building which is still (2015) located on the southwest corner of 10th and Morton Streets. At some point an addition was constructed to the south side of this building. By the 1980's and 1990's this building was being used by the IU Press for storage of pallets of books and other publications. The Indiana University Archives and the IU Credit Union had storage space in the basement. and the IU Archives had additional storage space on the uppermost floor in the northwest corner of the building.
