The Nurre Mirror Plate Company was located on the west side of Madison Street north of Eighth Street in Bloomington, Indiana. It was the sister company of Showers Brothers Furniture Company. Nurre was the first company to ever construct glass backboards for basketball. These first glass backboards were installed in the second floor basketball courts of what was then known as the Men's Gym (now, 2012, part of the Wildermuth / HPER complex).
