image number: | P0021351 |
description: | This image, with a short article, appears on page 11 of the June 1949 issue of the Indiana Alumni Magazine. The sculpture is a life-size replica of the original and was sent to IU aboard the Merci Train by the citizens of France as an expression of their gratitude for the Friendship Train following World War II. The statue was secured through the efforts of Gertrude Force Weathers (AB 1918, AM 1930). Currently (2014) the sculpture can be viewed in the Indiana Memorial Union's building entrance across from the Whittenberger Auditorium. |
