description: | Hunter was graduated from the IU School of Law in 1848. He was a member of the 82nd Indiana Infantry during the Civil War where he attained the rank of Brevet Brigadier General. The 82nd Indiana took part in the battles of Stone's River and Hoover's Gap and they were part of the Chattanooga-Chickamauga campaign as well as Sherman's march to the sea. Hunter's offices were located above Lubertew's Store on the west side of the Bloomington downtown square. Hunter married Martha Adaline Labertew (1831-1888).
